What is kolhapuri Jewellery ?

Kolhapuri Saaj is Maharashtrian authentic famous Jewellery. Kolhapur is famous for its special type of necklace calledĀ Kolhapur Saaj or Chinchpeti (choker), Tanmani (short necklace) and Nath (nose ring) these are the ornaments/ Jewellery made with combination of pearls, red and white stones. Another Jewellery called bajuband (the armlet) is also a favorite. Traditionally, necklace is made of 21 leaves (paani) but contemporary wearers prefer 10 to 12. Customarily the necklace is handmade, which takes at least a week to prepare.
